先日、鏡開きをしました。

鏡開きとは、正月に神（年神）や仏に供えた鏡餅を下げて食べる、日本の年中行事であり、神仏に感謝し、またその供えられたものを頂いて無病息災などを祈って、汁粉・雑煮などで食す、とあります。By Wikipedia

海外からの入居者さんには半ば食べていただいたので、ここで改めて英語で説明しますね。
Kagami Biraki is a Japanese traditional ceremony which literally translates to “Opening the Mirror” (from an abstinence) or, also, “Breaking of the Mochi.” It traditionally falls on January 11.
